CGSF: Effective Communication with your Mentor

Brian Rybarczyk, Associate Dean for Professional DevelopmentPart 2 of CGSF Lunch & Learn mentorship series. Students are encouraged, but not required, to also attend Finding a Mentor on 9/26. The skills learned in this series build upon each other and students will benefit most if taken as a series.
Effective communication is essential for establishing a strong mentor-mentee relationship. This workshop aims to aid graduate students in Diversity and Student Success in overcoming communication barriers with their academic mentors. Participants will receive clear and assertive communication guidance and strategies to facilitate successful interactions with their mentors.
Dr. Brian Rybarczyk, is the Associate Dean for Professional Development. He oversees implementation of professional, career development, and fellowship programs administered by The Graduate School. Dr. Rybarczyk develops and implements graduate funding policies and oversees the review processes for a dozen fellowships, awards, plus several grants, scholarships, and assistantships annually administered by The Graduate School, including the Royster Society of Fellows and Weiss Urban Livability Fellowship.  He is an active member of the Graduate Career Consortium, a professional organization that advances graduate and postdoctoral career and professional development.
