DSS Lunch & Learn Series: Finding a Mentor

Wednesday, October 5, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Part 1 of the DSS Lunch & Learn mentorship series. Students are encouraged, but not required, to also attend Effective Communication with Your Mentor on 10/10. The skills learned in this series build upon each other and students will benefit most if taken as a series.

Finding a faculty mentor is key to a graduate student’s training, progress, and success. This workshop will prepare participants to identify key aspects of a mentoring relationship that they value, develop skills and attributes to succeed with different types of mentoring styles, and provide perspectives from a panel of current graduate students. Mentoring conventions in different academic disciplines will be highlighted through discussions and case studies. All graduate student participants in Diversity and Student Success are welcome to attend.

Hosted by Dr. Brian Rybarczyk, Associate Dean, Professional Development and Funding. Sponsored by The Graduate School’s Professional Development program and Diversity and Student Success.
