“Soul” is Pixar’s first movie with a predominantly Black cast. Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx, the first Black actor to front a Pixar film, voices the starring role of Joe Gardner, a middle school band teacher from Queens, New York, whose ambition to play jazz piano is always just out of reach.
