Virtual IME La Familia LHM: Dinner with Dr. Rodríguez

La Familia presents our Latinx Heritage Month speaker!
Grab your dinner and join your La Familia peers for a candid conversation with Dr. Annette Rodríguez. Dr. Rodríguez is an Assistant Professor in American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her PhD in American Studies at Brown University in 2016. Her training, professional pursuits, and record of teaching have led to significant national and regional honors.
Dr. Rodríguez will discuss her journey navigating academia as a Mexican-American/Chicana who comes from a long line of storytellers and historians. As a group, we will discuss how to re-center ourselves in a system that often requires us to distance ourselves from our home communities. We will reflect on the question “Why do you do what you do?”and reaffirm ourselves on why “all this matters”. Dr. Rodríguez encourages us to nurture ourselves and a share a meal in virtual comunidad.
