Teaching Assistant Safe Zone

Safe Zone is a program designed to create a network of visible allies to people who identify as part of the diverse LGBTQ+ community. The four-hour educational session provides information and resources related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
In this Safe Zone for people currently serving as Teaching Assistants (and those interested in a future role as a Teaching Assistant) we will discuss strategies to create an inclusive classroom, go through scenarios you might encounter, and answer any questions you have. This is a great opportunity to learn how to be an ally to your students, to learn about resources available to LGBTIQA+ students, and to build skills around inclusion and advocacy that will be beneficial in future TA or professor roles. Lunch will be provided!
